Romain Febvre qualifies eighth in Turkey

Romain Febvre of Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP qualified eighth for the final round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Afyonkarahisar in central Turkey.

Overtaking moves were rare during the twenty-minute-plus-two lap Qualifying race and, with gate-choice for tomorrow’s GP motos of little significance, the Frenchman maintained eighth place throughout. KRT teammate Ben Watson will go to the gate nineteenth tomorrow.

Romain Febvre: “It was an average day; I was missing some speed on this track today and that made life difficult. The feeling was better during the Qualifying race and my start was good on the start straight but then I was pushed to the outside in the first corner. It’s not easy to pass here and we just followed each other from third to eighth position as we all had similar speed; only the first two could make the difference. Physically I’m feeling stronger every week so we’ll focus on getting good starts tomorrow and take it from there."

F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s Kevin Horgmo and Big Van World MTX Kawasaki’s Mikkel Haarup each had a frustrating day in Qualifying for the final round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship. The F&H KX250 shot out the gate to round turn one fifth but the Norwegian never settled into his regular rhythm and was demoted to tenth at the finish, while the Big Van World MTX Dane bravely defied recent sickness to battle forward from an initial eighteenth to finish twelfth.

Kevin Horgmo: “I had a good feeling with the track in the morning but I just couldn’t settle into a rhythm in the Qualifying race. The track was pretty compact today so I need to adapt and reset; hopefully we can turn it around tomorrow like we did at St Jean.”
